US Unknowns

On a small tour promoting their long awaited sophomore album, Klaxons signed-on to LA's Culture Collide Festival. For 10 bucks, I got to see quite a few amazing bands in addition to living the LA life (i.e. rooftop pools, west hollywood strip). I'm hoping this fest will pick up momentum. The acts were great, the venues were awesome, the turn out somewhat dead. Although this allowed Sophie to literally rub elbows with Jamie O Reynolds and say hello to James Righton.


Like the rockstars we are, we went to Klaxons' gig at Troubadour- which was my first time there. Awesome venue, awesome acoustics. On the dot, right after the last encore song, our getaway car was there to chauffer us back to Echoplex for White Lies.Interspersing new material from their upcoming album was Harry "Hottie" McVeigh. They've come a long way and I am looking forward to the new stuff.

Day 1- Thank goodness for wellies. Although I think folks who came in on Friday might have had the worse end of things from what I was reading bout Reading.


And look at the amazing ribbon bands that they have for the festival. I almost didn't want to cut them off, but that would mean showering with them. Ugh!

Something to Remember

I've stop posting silly nonsense about my gig going for awhile. I don't even remember to bring my camera out most of the time nowadays. Guess i'm growing old. Still love gigs, but not as teeny bopping anymore?

Went to the Saratoga Winery last night. It was a beautiful warm night, everyone was oo-ing and ahh-ing over it. The music kicked off right with Swell Season sounding amazing. Half way into the show, something unfortunately happen. All eyes was focused on Glen and something just dropped on stage. It was a person. No one quite saw what happened. From what we could figure out, someone jumped. There was no movement, some doctors from the crowd administered CPR, the paramedics came after perhaps 15 minutes but never left. They ushered us out the amphitheater slowly and eventually towards our cars to head home.

After a series of missing out on watching MGMT, I was rather excited and refused to believe Sophie's comments on them being somewhat boring live performers. I have to concur after watching them at the Fillmore. I expected neon costumes and leaps and jumps but they basically shuffled from side to side a little and looked a little sophomoric collegiate like. :( Doesn't stop Van Wyn Garden from looking really cute. Makes me wonder what about all those outlandish pictures i see.
