Popscene! You Rock!

It always amazes me the acts poscene will bring to 330 Ritch. Tonight it was Maximo Park with Monsters Are Waiting as the opening act. With a name like Annalee, how could you not love her. She was quite adorable, okay, i take that back- looking at her pic- i think she's quite gorgeous. Apparently she could barely hear herself and was frustrated by that fact. Mr. Sound Engineer- where were you?

I constantly wonder how rockstars feel about having thousands of fans worship you at one end of the world and then get a decent turn out in America at popscene-sf. At least Paul and the rest of the band memberes still brought (and kept) their energy on the tiny stage at 330- there wasn't much space for Paul to fully show of his repertoire of dance moves. However, it was rather dissapointing that they refused an encore performance even though the audience chanted for, say 5 minutes for them to do another song? So perhaps they were divas after all- seeing that they were performing at popscene for their 2nd time to promote their second album? I'm on the fence- you tell me whether they were happy to be there!

Unfortunately our night ended up on a sour note where the meter maid gave Sophie a ticket for being in a street cleaning zone. We were also boxed in by an idiotic car who no doubt was in 330 for the MIA dj set.
:( Maximo- this i blame you for- if we didn't wait around in hopes that you would do an encore- we would have vamanos-ed earlier.

As of an hour ago- Bjork tickets for MSG was just release and she'll be performing with Klaxons!!!! that would be such an awesome show. Seriously! I think it's a fantabulous combo- don't you? So- virginamerica is having this great promo to fly to JFK for $139 one way. Ticket to see Bjork and Klaxons $80. Hmm... going to NY-MSG for the 2nd time in 30 days? :) Priceless... anybody interested?

The way to suck an egg...

Goodness knows what that means but it's a line from one of my fav songs. The night started out with a band called "Fist Fight". Semi experimental i suppose- definitely not mainstream. She had this interesting contraption that was a phone handset that transposed her voice to sound like she was on a megaphone. Unfortunately- shouting voices into a megaphone doesn't seem quite melodic to me. But kudos to them for being different. I must admit it looked like they had a fan base.

Klaxons came on stage much much later- or did it feel late coz i was tired- but i was still pretty excited! Was edging my way into the mosh pit in hopes that the energy will whisk me away like it did @ the XFM tent. But it didn't :( They sounded good- but the SF crowd kinda just stood there like statues (with the exception of the small moshing pit in front). I can't put my finger on what was wrong. Perhaps it was the stage lighting- i was so close but couldn't even get any decent shots. This was the best shot i could get of cutie pie James Righton aka- Josh Harnett's lil' bro in our circle.
I made a comment that perhaps it was the sound system- but Sophie said it sounded fine. So what was it? I hate to admit this but i think it was the lame SF crowd. Perhaps Klaxons will gain more popularity with MTV featuring them as "fresh" artists- but that was a month ago. They're definitely pioneers in introducing new sounds to the stage. So they're still my fav.
